Even if I never get married. Even if the job never comes through. Even if I don’t get into medical school. Even if I cry until I can’t breathe, I will follow You.
When I feel alone on Valentine’s Day, The Lord is my strength. When I’m afraid that everything’s going wrong, God tells me it’s okay.
Walking with the Lord is not easy. Things don’t always go the way you think they should. But The Lord is still faithful. At that point, you have to continue pressing through to Jesus and remembering who He is.
He is kind.
He is not scary.
He is not mean.
He is good.
That’s the end of it. He doesn’t fail. He doesn’t forget. He just doesn’t!
God is not a man, that he should lie, Neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and will he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and will he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19 ASV)
Okay, we all know that surprise parties are the best parties. The only problem with surprise parties is that you can’t really ask for one. You’re just stuck waiting until someone else thinks of throwing you a surprise party. In a sense, surprise parties put you at the mercy of the planner.
If we’re honest, I think we would all agree that we don’t like to let other people plan things for us. We all want to be in charge of our own lives and make them look like perfectly filtered Instagram photos.
But…surprise parties are the best.
In the same way that we want to be in control of our birthday parties, we want to plan each step we’ll ever take in life to make sure it’s great. The issue with this is that our understanding is limited. We can make things good, but we can’t make things AMAZING.
When we give the Lord our lives–our every day–we are, in effect, letting Him plan our surprise party. We don’t know when it’s coming, or what it’s going to be, but we trust He’s working on it. He knows when “our birthdays are”–when we need what we need–and He’s in control. He’s on schedule, on time, and He knows what He’s doing. He never forgets birthdays. (How could He forget anything about you? He loves you so much!) Not to mention, He’s a great planner. Those that attend His parties wait eagerly until the time comes and then are overjoyed and thankful that they have chosen to wait instead of scheduling something else. That’s how we have to be when we’re waiting on the Lord: we have to trust that His party really will be better than anything we or anyone else could ever plan. We have to wait patiently for our surprise party and trust that He’s working on the details.
God plans the best parties.
Jesus loves y’all.
